Access to mental health care in rural Kentucky can be limited, which is why Take 2 Center offers statewide telehealth in addition to in-person services. Through telehealth, clients in Eastern Kentucky, Appalachian Kentucky, and other underserved rural areas can receive the same quality of care as those in larger cities — without the long drive.
Services include counseling for anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief, anger management, relationship issues, and more.
Yes. Anxiety and depression are among the most common concerns we work with. Treatment is individualized and may draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and solution-focused techniques. Sessions are available in person in Monticello, KY and via telehealth throughout Kentucky.
Take 2 Center provides trauma-informed counseling for clients across Kentucky. Our approach recognizes the impact of past trauma on current functioning and prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment throughout the therapeutic process.
Trauma-informed care is available both in person (Monticello, KY) and via telehealth statewide. Reach out through our contact form or call (270) 995-2076 to learn more.
If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like something in your life is not working — counseling is worth trying. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit. Many people come to therapy simply because they want to understand themselves better or navigate a difficult transition.
The first session is an intake appointment — a chance for us to get to know each other. We will talk about what brought you in, your background, and what you are hoping to get from counseling. There is no pressure to share everything at once.
By the end of the session, we will have a sense of whether we are a good fit and what a treatment plan might look like.
Standard sessions are 60 minutes. Sessions are typically scheduled weekly, especially at the start of treatment, and may shift to bi-weekly as you make progress.
Yes. Take 2 Center works with clients of all ages — children, adolescents, adults, and families. For younger clients, the approach is adapted to their developmental stage and may involve play-based or creative techniques alongside talk therapy.
For minors, a parent or guardian will be involved in the intake process. We will discuss how confidentiality works for younger clients so everyone understands what is and is not shared.
Research consistently shows that telehealth counseling is as effective as in-person sessions for most concerns, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. The therapeutic relationship — which is the strongest predictor of outcomes — translates well to video.
Some clients actually find it easier to open up from the comfort of their own space. Others prefer the structure of coming into an office. Both are valid, and you can switch between formats as your needs change.
Telehealth is available to anyone currently located in the state of Kentucky. Take 2 Center is licensed to provide services statewide, so you do not need to be near Eastern Kentucky to work with us.
A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection. Sessions use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform — you will receive a link before your appointment. A private space where you feel comfortable speaking freely makes a significant difference.
Take 2 Center accepts several major insurance plans. Coverage varies by plan and benefit level — contact your insurance provider to confirm your mental health benefits before your first session.
Please reach out directly to confirm whether your specific plan is accepted before scheduling.
Self-pay rates are available and discussed during the intake process. A sliding scale may be available for clients who demonstrate financial need — this is handled confidentially and without judgment. The goal is to make care accessible.
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Life happens — if something unexpected comes up, reach out as soon as you can and we will work with you.
The approach is tailored to each client rather than applied from a single framework. Commonly used methods include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based techniques, and solution-focused therapy.
The most important factor in therapy is the relationship between client and counselor — the techniques support that relationship, not the other way around.
There is no standard answer — it depends on what you are working on, how you respond to the process, and what your goals are. Some clients find significant relief in 8–12 sessions. Others benefit from longer-term work. We will check in regularly on your progress and adjust the plan together.
You are never locked in. You can pause or end counseling at any time, and you can always return.
Yes — with a small number of legally required exceptions. Confidentiality must be broken if there is an imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, if there is suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, or if a court order requires disclosure.
These exceptions will be explained clearly at intake. Outside of them, what you share stays between you and your counselor.
Take 2 Center is located in Southeastern Kentucky. The exact address and parking details are provided when you schedule your first appointment.
Telehealth is available to anyone in Kentucky, so distance is not a barrier. Many clients in rural areas find telehealth especially convenient — no travel time, no need to arrange childcare or take time off work. If you prefer in-person sessions and the drive is manageable, you are always welcome to come in.
